Keeping track of your assets’ age
Updated over a year ago

How does SuperOps.ai check an asset’s age?

The platform considers the asset’s age as the number of years since the current BIOS of the device was installed.

📝Note:

  • SuperOps.ai currently supports asset aging only for Windows devices.

  • The latest version of the agent needs to be installed on the client’s asset to collect information about the asset’s age. If your device has an agent version older than 202301111527 installed, then the asset’s age will be displayed as NA.

You can view an asset’s age in two places: the asset list view and the asset summary page.

To view the asset age in the list view:

1. Navigate to Modules > Assets > All assets

2. Click on the "Columns" button on the top right corner of the page.

3. In the list of columns shown, select Asset age. You can rearrange the order of the columns by moving these fields around. This order will be reflected in the list view.

4. Click Done once you have arranged the columns as per your preference. You now can see "Asset age" as one of the columns in the list view as shown below.

To view the asset age on the asset summary page,

  1. Navigate to Modules > Assets

  2. Choose any asset and in the summary page, scroll down to Asset info

  3. Here you’ll be able to see the age of the asset as shown below.

📝Note:

Asset age needs to be selected as one of the Asset Class fields for it to be visible in the asset info.

Setting up asset age as a custom field:

To do that,

  1. Navigate to Settings > Asset class under Asset management and select Windows Machine

  2. Drag and drop “Asset Age” from the default fields and hit Save.

💡 SuperTip: Asset age will also be available as a filter condition in the asset list view. This helps technicians identify older assets that need to be replaced soon.

For example, you can view only assets that have aged more than 5 years by setting the filter as shown below.

Setting Asset age as a filter in widgets:

You can create widgets with the asset age as a filter, or you can group the widgets by asset age.

To do that,

  1. Go to Create > Widgets

  2. Set the module as Asset from the drop-down menu

  3. Fill in the metric details and set asset age as a filter.
