SuperOps.ai assesses the previous patch cycle of every asset and determines the overall status of the asset’s patches, as listed below.

  1. No policy: No patch policy was applied for this asset.

  2. No data: No patch data for the asset was available.

  3. Install pending: The asset has approved patches awaiting installation. These patches will be installed in the next patch installation cycle.

  4. Reboot required: All patches were installed in the asset during the last cycle and a reboot is required for the patches to be applied.

  5. Fully patched: All approved patches are successfully installed in the asset.

These patch statuses are listed in ascending order of hierarchy. For a patch status to be true, all the other patch statuses preceding it must be false. (This doesn’t apply to the “No policy” status. If “No policy” is displayed, then other statuses will not be applicable and vice versa.)

For example, if an asset gets the ‘fully patched’ status, the 3 statuses preceding it are false.

In addition, if an asset has multiple patches, and each patch has a different status, then, on the whole, the patch status displayed for that particular asset will be the one that precedes all other patch statuses in the above-mentioned hierarchy.

For example, if an asset has 4 patches and two of their statuses are “Install Pending,” one is “Fully Patched,” and the other’s status is “Reboot Required,” then the overall patch status for that asset will be “Install Pending” since it precedes “Reboot Required.”

📝Note:

The asset’s patch status will be updated with every patch scan, and changes to the patch status, if any, will be updated accordingly. A patch scan usually takes place at 04:00 UTC if policies are enabled.

You can now view the status of your patches from the asset details page.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to Modules > Assets > All assets

  2. Click the “Columns” button on the top right corner of the screen.

3. In the list of columns shown, select “Patch Status." You can rearrange the order of the columns by moving these fields around. This order will be reflected in the list view.

4. Click “Done” once you have arranged the columns as per your preference. You can now see "Patch Status" as one of the columns in the list view as shown below.
