Learn to manage and monitor mobile devices in SuperOps with asset views, remote actions, app insights and security policies for Android devices

Updated this week

SuperOps allows you to efficiently manage your client's Android mobile devices.

From a centralised dashboard, you can view detailed device information, perform remote commands, manage applications, and enforce security policies to ensure all devices are secure and compliant.

Accessing mobile devices from asset views

  • Navigate to the Assets module from the main menu. In the left-hand navigation pane under Asset views, you can see the default views, where you will find "Android"

  • Create custom views : If you prefer to create your own asset view, click the plus icon (+) next to the Asset views heading.

  • On the Create asset view page, configure the details for your new view. For this example, we will create a view for Android devices at a specific site:

Asset view name: Enter a descriptive name, such as 'Android devices'.
Asset types: Select 'Android' from the dropdown menu.
Shared View: Check this box if you want other technicians to be able to access this view.

Next, define a filter condition to control which assets are displayed. Click + Conditions to add a rule. For example, you can filter devices from specific Sites.

  • Once you have configured the view and its filter conditions, click Save in the top-right corner.

Customizing view columns

After creating your view, you can customize which information is displayed in the asset table.

  • Click the Columns button located at the top of the asset list.

  • In the 'Configure columns' panel that appears on the right, check the boxes for the data fields you want to display.

  • Click Done to save your column preferences. The asset table will update to show the newly selected columns, giving you a customized view of your devices.

Working with a mobile device

When you click on the device, you will land on the asset's detail page, which opens to the Summary tab by default. Here, you can review key information at a glance, including battery percentage, internal storage usage, OS details, and a log of recent actions performed on the device.

Working with device actions

From the device detail page, you can perform actions directly on the device. The following actions are available for Android devices.

  • Change password: Force a password reset on the device. Useful when an employee forgets their device password, when a security policy requires periodic resets, or when a device is being reassigned to a new user.

  • Lock: Remotely lock the device screen. Useful when a device is left unattended in a public or shared space, when an employee is suspended or off-boarded, or as an immediate containment step while investigating a potential security incident.

  • Wipe: Erase all data on the device and restore it to factory settings. Useful when a device is confirmed lost or stolen, when an employee leaves the organisation, or when a device needs to be fully decommissioned.

  • Reboot: Trigger an on-demand restart of the device. Useful when a device is sluggish or unresponsive, after pushing an update that requires a restart, or when you need to refresh a device without relying on the user to do it.

  • Ping: Check whether the device is currently online. The result is captured in the asset activity log for your reference. Useful when a device hasn't been heard from in a while, or before performing any action where you need to confirm the device is reachable first.

  • Send Message: Push a notification directly to the device. A confirmation is logged in the asset activity feed once the message is sent. Useful when you need to quickly notify a device user before making a change, enforcing a policy, or acting on a flagged device.

Note: Device actions vary between fully managed devices and BYOD devices. The actions listed above apply to fully managed devices. For BYOD devices, follow the same steps outlined in this article to view the actions available.

Manage applications

  • To view all applications installed on the device, click the Apps tab. This section provides a comprehensive list of apps and their application status You can also view the list of Apps managed by SuperOps under the "Managed Apps" section

  • To review the configuration policies applied to the device, navigate to the Policy tab. This area displays all the restrictions and settings enforced on the device, helping you ensure it complies with your security standards.

Summary

By using these features, you can maintain complete visibility and control over your managed mobile devices, ensuring they are properly configured, secure, and up-to-date directly within SuperOps.
