Remote control on Android devices

Learn how to remotely control Android devices

Remote Control lets a technician view and, when needed, take full control of a managed Android device's screen, without being on-site. It's useful for troubleshooting an issue, walking a user through a step, or resolving a problem directly on the device. This is available for Fully-managed Android devices and Kiosk devices. This guide walks you through enabling it and starting a session.

Prerequisites

  • The device must be enrolled and managed in SuperOps.

  • The device must be online and able to accept the remote session request.

  • Remote Desktop must be turned on in the device's Android policy. See below.

Enabling Remote Desktop in the policy

Go to Policy Management and open the Android policy that applies to the device.

  1. Under MDM Configurations, select Remote Mobile.

  2. Turn on Remote Desktop.

  3. Select Save.

Starting a remote session

  • Open the device's asset page.

  • Select Remote.

  • The session shows a waiting state until the device accepts the connection.

  • Once the device connects, you'll see a view-only stream of the device's screen.

  • You will see an option to Request Control to move from view-only to full control of the device.

  • Once control is granted, you can navigate through the device to troubleshoot the issue.

  • The session header shows a live duration timer and live bandwidth usage, so you can see connection quality while you work.

  • Select End Session when you're done.

Once the session ends, you will see an audit log of this in the asset screen.
