Do you run monthly server maintenance? Do you drive cloud migration projects for a lot of clients? Project templates are just what you need to create and ship projects faster.
Project templates take the grunt work out of having to manually create a project from scratch, especially routine projects you plan with your clients. Now, all you need to do is save them as project templates, and use them to hit the ground running with a couple of clicks.
Creating a new project template
Navigate to Settings > Advanced Configurations > Templates and select the + Template icon on the top right.
Click ‘Project Template’ from the drop-down list.
3. Give the project template a name and description, and set dynamic start and end dates for your project.
4. Next, start creating milestones to break your project down and set short-term targets, and populate them with tasks.
5. You can create milestones by clicking on the ‘Add Milestone’ button at the top of the page. You can also add existing task templates to these milestones.
6. You can also create miscellaneous tasks that you want to work on in parallel with your milestones. You can create these tasks by clicking on the ‘Create Task’ button on the top.
7. Give a Name and a description of the task.
8. You can set the start and end dates for your task creation and enter an estimated time for the task to be completed.
9. You can also permanently assign specific tasks to a particular technician or technician group. For example, if your service desk team is responsible for handling all product walkthroughs, then you can ensure that the product walkthrough tasks get assigned to them permanently.
💡SuperTip:
If a technician does not have access to the client for which the project is created they would not be able to view the project.
10. Once you are done, click the ‘Save’ button on the top right to create the task. You can create multiple tasks under each milestone, and multiple milestones under each project.
📝 Note:
You can also easily add existing tasks to the milestone by choosing from the ‘Task Templates’
11. Once you are done, click the save button to create the project template.
Now you can apply the project template you’ve created on the ‘New Project’ page. Within the page, you can select the template you want, and see all the details get populated automatically.
📝 Note:
Once the template has been applied, you can edit or modify the project details. If you re-apply any other project template, the existing data will be overridden after confirmation.
