Network issues often feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. With SuperOps’ topology mapping, you get a visual map of your client’s entire IT network: showing every device, how they’re connected, and their live status. This bird’s-eye view helps you:
Spot broken or missing connections at a glance
Quickly identify offline or critical devices
Drill down into device details without manually hunting across modules
Troubleshoot faster with built-in status checks and alerts
How to use topology mapping
Go to Modules ▸ Clients and select a client.
On the top-right corner of the client page, click the Topology Map button. This opens the full network map for the selected client.
The map displays all network devices under management and their connections. You can use this view to understand overall health, check for broken links, or identify if critical devices are offline. You can switch between the topology maps for different sites for the client using the site dropdown box on top.
You can control the topology map by Collapse All & Expand All button actions on the top right. You can expand or collapse asset groups by clicking a device and zoom into any specific cluster of devices to check basic device info, if they’re offline/online, connectional status. (Use your mouse scroll wheel, two-finger touchpad gesture, or the + & - buttons on the top right of the screen to zoom in and out.)
If you’re looking for a specific device, you can use the search bar to quickly pull it up.
The device bubble comes with icons to indicate online/offline status and alerts associated with the device. You can hover over devices and connections to see a small bubble that displays its name and status. With network devices, the bubble also displays a count of critical alerts associated with the device.
Click the device bubble to open the right panel to see a snapshot of high level device information such as associated alerts, average RTD ping, network information, and more. You can quickly ping to check the status of the device right from this pane.
Click the device to open up the network device page and dig deeper for more detailed device insights.
Similarly you can select device connections and check their bandwidth, error, and discard trends.
Note:
Topology mapping is available for customers who use network monitoring as an add-on to their existing SuperOps subscription.
LLDP/CDP need to be enabled on the network devices to display proper connections between assets.
