When you onboard a new device into SuperOps, a policy set will apply to it based on the asset group that you put the device under. In your policy set, you can define when and how you want to deploy patches, install software, and run scripts on this device, right after it is onboarded.
What does asset onboarding mean?
An asset is considered 'onboarded' once the SuperOps agent is installed on it. The onboarding policy you define will apply in two scenarios:
When the SuperOps agent is installed on a new asset.
When an existing asset's policy set is changed i.e., a new policy set is applied to an existing asset.
Setting up your onboarding policy
1. Go to Settings > Policy Management.
2. Open the policy set you want to work with and click on Asset Onboarding on the right.
3. In your Onboarding policy, you can define these actions:
Patching: Define when you want to deploy your patches based on the patch policy you have defined (under patch management)
Software: Define when you want to run software installs based on the software policy you have defined (under software management)
Scripts: Define what scripts you want to run and when.
4. You can choose to execute your actions immediately or after a specific amount of time.
5. Please ensure you have patch management and software management configured and enabled in your policy set for the asset onboarding actions to work.
6. If you define multiple scripts to run on a device, SuperOps will execute your scripts in the order in which you select them here.
