Troubleshooting: Endpoints face high CPU and RAM usage after updating Splashtop Streamer
Updated over a week ago

We’ve identified that endpoints running the Splashtop Streamer version 3.5.6.0 deployed using the SuperOps.ai agent caused high levels of CPU and RAM usage.

Here’s what we know about the cause of the issue, and what can be done to resolve it if you’re facing this issue:

Cause

The issue was identified to be a known bug from the Splashtop Streamer, with a particular version of the Splashtop Streamer increasing endpoint usage to high levels.

After updating Splashtop Streamer, the application creates and renames a large number of rotating logfiles in quick succession under \\Device\\HarddiskVolume*\\Program Files (x86)\\Splashtop\\Splashtop Remote\\Server\\log\\agent_log.txt.001 (where the extension 001 increments up to 999)

Because of this, the endpoint's CPU and memory consumption increases.

Resolution

This issue is known to be resolved in subsequent versions of the Splashtop Streamer - Splashtop Streamer version v3.5.8.0 for Windows

Please update the version of Splashtop Streamer and verify the CPU and RAM consumption after rebooting the system.

If you require further assistance with this issue, please don't hesitate to contact our support team.
